Loft Insulation Top-Up
Layering fresh mineral wool over sound existing insulation to bring your loft up to modern 270mm–300mm performance standards.
Why Top Up Existing Insulation?
Many homes built or insulated before 2000 have only 50mm–100mm of insulation. If this existing material is dry and unsoiled, there is no need to remove it. Adding a 170mm or 200mm cross-layer over the top cost-effectively triples thermal performance.
- Thorough moisture and timber inspection before laying new material
- Existing insulation uncompressed and leveled out first
- New top layer laid perpendicularly across joists to stop thermal bridging
